What to do in Mykonos?

Of course, it’s hard to imagine Mykonos as a simple promenade on the road to the famous Delosa, when it was just a humble little island without even electricity. But things changed in the 1950s with the arrival of Aristotle Onassis, Maria Callas, Jackie O, Marlon Brando, Grace Kelly, Princess Soraya, Elizabeth Taylor, Nureyev, Pierre Cardin, Stavros Niarchos… Legendary names from the international jet set became interested in Mykonos and the island quickly became an exquisite holiday destination in Greece for the very rich, artists and film stars. And the list of these celebrities continues to grow: Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks, Shakira, Lady Gaga, Steven Spielberg, Monica Bellucci, Liam Neeson, Hugh Jackman, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones, Clive Owen, Jean Paul Gaultier, Giorgio Armani, Russell Crowe

Perhaps one of the most photographed spots of the island, Little Venice consists of houses built in 18. century and consists of houses with foundations in the sea. It is rumoured that pirates once hid their booty behind these doors above the water level. Today they have been converted into bars and restaurants and the views of the sparkling Aegean Sea from their balconies are mesmerising. Another attraction of Mykonos are the windmills, which stand overlooking the sea and are pleasantly illuminated at night. Powered by the north wind, these windmills were used to grind grain into flour until the early 20th century.

Look who’s dancing around you: your favourite TV stars, supermodels, well-respected fashion designers, pop stars. Everything is possible in Mykonos. From Little Venice to Super Paradise, from Matogiannia to Psarou, Orno, Orno, Paradise… the party never stops all summer long. Day and night, spontaneous and organised, with DJs from all over the world. Holidays in Mykonos, champagne on the beach and cocktails on the balcony,
It means there is no limit to the fun, like flirting and dancing until the sun comes up.

During your holiday in Mykonos all your dreams will come true. This is an island of luxury that has it all. Exclusive villas and suites with private pools merging with the blue horizon. Award-winning designs. Five-star service. Gourmet gastronomy served on romantic balconies, on a yacht or on a private jetty. Mykonos may surprise even those accustomed to luxury living. Hospitality has become a standard in itself here.

Jackie Onassis introduced his American gay friends to Mykonos in the 70s. The locals are particularly open-minded and welcoming to the gay community, which is why Mykonos is recognised worldwide as the most gay-friendly place in Greece. Every year more and more hotels, bars, beach restaurants and clubs are responding to gay demand.
